Some days when I wake up I feel like it's going to be a good day. You know, like when time and place mesh perfectly and then the day goes smooth and fast and before you know it you're already in bed waiting for the next day. Other days, it starts with a shower.
Or a non-shower to be exact.
I must admit, when Audrey first told me about this about a week ago, I didn't believe her. In fact I pretty much laughed at her. And then it happened to me.
I don't know if I told you guys about our fun toilet or not, but I'm going to tell you again. You can only flush it so many times before it runs out of cold water. Then it just doesn't flush. IT DOESN'T FLUSH.
But, now onto the real issue here. The shower. Sometimes, like the toilet, it likes to run out of cold water. And then you have to take a hot shower. A HOT SHOWER. It's not just 'warm' or a 'little too warm'. NO, it's scalding hot. At first, you don't know what's happening. You think, maybe, just maybe, someone is playing this horrible joke on you and that the cold water will turn on in a few seconds. No, it doesn't work like that. If there's no cold water, well, then there's no cold water.
The first time it happened to me was at 5am one morning last week. I really just needed to wash my hair anyway so I first just got my hair wet and the water kind of hurt, but not too bad. But then I did the stupidest thing I have ever done. I put shampoo in my hair. The horrible thing about soap is that when you put soap in your hair, you can't be done with your "shower" until all the soap is out.
So I put the soap in my hair and I set the shower head down so I could work it into my hair and by the time I went to rinse it out, the water had actually heated up. It didn't stay at the same unbearable level that it was at when I first started, oh no, that would have been lucky. I had to finish rinsing out my hair and I'm pretty sure I nearly died.
Audrey and I are in the routine of taking showers every other day so if the cold water runs out on the day we need showers, well.. yay. Would you like to play Russian Roulette with your shower?
I'm surprised you run out of cold water...but not hot water. ???
