An Educational Post: Money

I'm rich! ...In Ukraine. The currency in Ukraine goes by Grivnya (pronounced greeve-na, abbr. 'r'). 1r = 8USD.

50r ($6.25)

$62.50

25 cents

lol about 10 cents?

10r = $1.25

5r

100r = $12.50

Audrey and I are going on a 'eurotour' next month (more about that later) and we had to pay for it today in cash. It's about 300USD (2,650r) so we went to the ATM and I took out about 2000r and it gave it to me all in 50s. Then i took out 400r more and it gave it to me in 10s. LOVELY. Have fun counting that later..

JEALOUS?

And then there are coins.  They're called Kopiyka (pronounced ko-paek)Which are basically worth NOTHING. But they have them anyway. They have 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 kopiyka. the 50 is worth about 6 cents. and the 1 kopiyka is less than 1/12 of a penny. WHY?

I hope this was educational enough for everyone :) If you're collecting money or coins or anything make sure to let me know so I can bring some home for you!
