Lesson Planning

Every week Audrey and I need 10 planned lessons each that we teach. The subjects are Drama, Games, Sport, Art, Shop, and Kitchen. Since Audrey and I are the only teachers in the morning, we get to choose what schedule we rotate on and stuff like that. I teach 2 lessons, 4 times every day. So this week I have Kitchen and Shop. Today, for example, I made banana rockets (4 times) and tornado bottles (4 times). So this week I needed 5 lessons for kitchen and 5 lessons for shop. We rotate subjects every two weeks and next I'll need activities for sport and drama, Audrey will take over kitchen and shop and art and games will be put on hold for two weeks.

Long story short, we plan 10 lessons each Wednesday and turn them in to our head teacher to be reviewed and then we get them back. Each lesson plan needs to be written out and have at least 25 steps. We have to list materials we will need to have and which 'concepts' we're working on every day. Here are a few of mine:

We also get awesome smiley faces on them if they're good. Planning the lessons and writing them all out has been taking up most of our time lately, but we really hope to get used to the process soon so we can complete them faster and get on with everything else! We just turned in a stack of lessons yesterday so today we've given ourselves free time to relax. Tomorrow we hope to be back in the groove.

So far the kids have really enjoyed what we've been doing!

Audrey made cool alien hats with them today and Egor loved his so much that he had me take about 5 pictures of him so he could see what he looked like.
