Quick Update: 3

A lot of you have been asking a few questions through emails and comments and I guess it's time you all get some answers :)


Why can't we drink water from the faucet?
The water here isn't clean at all. It even smells bad! I'm assuming we all grew up thinking that water shouldn't really have a smell… So we have to fill giant plastic bottles from outside and carry them back inside. We fill ours about once a week because we also fill our normal water bottles up at school every day. A lot of the families have purifiers on their faucets so they don’t have to retrieve water, but ours doesn’t. You can still brush your teeth and wash your dishes and stuff with it, it just isn’t extremely safe to consume in large quantities without boiling it first (like for tea).

Why would we want to travel with a hairless cat?
Because they’re awesome. I’ve always wanted one so why not get one and go on a road trip with it?! Hahaha

How do we keep the exchange rate from giving us headaches?
We do really fast math. If something is 24r then we divide it by 8 and we know it equals 3USD. On the other hand, if it’s like 34r then we stand in the grocery store for 5 minutes looking like morons trying to do math. We try to not go grocery shopping if we’re feeling particularly stupid that day.

Have you thought about becoming a teacher?
Funny, mom. Yes, everyone should know that I eventually plan on becoming a teacher, but if I was being completely honest, I would tell you that I would love to actually own my own preschool and still teach every day. If I was a millionaire, I would buy that amazing burnt orange building, from a few posts ago, and use half of a floor for a preschool, half of a floor for a café, half of a floor for an interior design office, half a floor for a chocolate shop, and then live in the rest. I guess I should start playing the lottery, eh? I think I’ve veered off topic.

How is your host family?
We’re assuming that they’re doing amazing! Our host sister is utterly in love with Audrey. They played rock, paper, scissors the other night, but she kept changing the rules to win and Audrey kept losing. Her laugh is hilarious! I’ll try to get a video of her cracking up. Other than that, we don’t see too much of everyone else, but we know they’re around somewhere.

Did I pack too much?
No..
Yes. But I swear I have worn every single pair of shoes that I brought with me.
