L'viv- Part 3

Third and final day in L’viv!

After starting out our morning with eggs and bread, we headed out in search of a huge cemetery. We walked for a while and followed our map and ended up standing smack dab in the middle of the cemetery. But there were no graves. There was a university, a veterinary school, a sweet statue, but no cemetery. We  decided not to look around too much, but instead just to take a different route back out and we would stop if we saw anything cool. Here are some pictures of the walk from the “cemetery” to the Folk Architecture Museum- it was a beautiful morning :)

We ended up following random signs all the way to the architecture museum. Up a hill, of course. When we got there and found out that it would cost us over a dollar to get in, some of us stayed outside. Yeah, we're cheap, but that $1 could buy us chocolate. And, you could see the whole "museum" from outside. It was just a bunch of log cabins that you couldn't even go inside.

But we found a huge man statue outside of the museum to get friendly with instead.

He was free and way more fun than the museum.

 

After all the walking, it was definitely time for lunch. We all split up and headed in different directions. Auvi, Jennii, Audrey, and I were feeling a bit adventurous and when we spotted a cute little café looking thing, we decided to try it. It was a fail. It turned out to be the kind of restaurant that little old ladies go into everyday at the same time to have tea with their friends.

We each ordered a ham sandwich, potato salad, and waffle cake. Here’s what we actually got.

Half a piece of bread with a slice of meat on it. Definitely not ham:

I don’t have a picture of the potato salad because when it came to the table we pretty much devoured it. There were like 7 small chunks of potato, 5 very small chunks of pickle, and some sauce. Not sure if it was mayo or not. It was good, but I really wish we would’ve gotten more- especially for the price we paid.

And this is the waffle “cake”. Butter on cardboard anyone? I almost gagged.

After our APPETIZER, we headed out to find the other girls at the crepe restaurant we had eaten at the day before. We each had two more crepes. We were SO hungry.

Then we took off in search of the City Hall. After like 10 feet out the door, Mindy, Audrey and I were distracted by a café with promises of hot chocolate. Who really needs to see a city hall, anyway? Not me.

The hot chocolate here is basically thick melted chocolate poured into a cup. No time for pictures until after it was all gone. Oops :)

  

It was getting pretty late in the afternoon, so we headed back to our hostel to grab our stuff before heading to the train, but we were once again distracted. By a toy store. Where we found:

We didn’t buy anything except colored pencils (because we bought coloring books the day before), but we really wanted to.

After grabbing our stuff, we headed to the tram stop. We found out that we could take a tram to the train station for only 12cents. Win. I had a lot of stuff though..

And then we took the 8 hour train home. We arrived in Kiev at 5:16am (to be exact). The metro by the train station doesn’t even start running until 6am so we had a bit of time to kill. McDonald’s hash browns are a very greasy way to start off a day. Not necessarily bad, though, when you have to take a 45 minute subway ride, walk 20 minutes, and then start teaching an hour later. Yes, we went right back to work as soon as we got back. We couldn’t even go home in between the trip and work. By the time all the kids went home, Audrey and I were pretty much one collective pile of mush.

But, it was a pretty good trip, don’t you agree?
